The weather in early February was great for geocaching and we took advantage of it to take hikes and find a few caches most every day.

Mrs. Spitfire was able to attend the PPB Cache with a Cop with the mock homicide and really enjoyed the presentation.

Later that day was the GEOregon Meet and Greet at the Village Inn in Tualatin.  The turnout was huge, pretty much overrunning the space set aside for us.  Mr. Walkie was awarded Geocacher of the Month.  It was announced that the GEOregon Board has decided to suspend Geocacher of the Month for a while and replace it with New Geocache of the Month.  The criteria for that is that the cache must be:

·        In Oregon

·        Within 50 miles of Portland city center

·        Published within the last 3 months

·        Most favorited within the 3 months

Anyone can win, and the award will be a logo that can be added to the cache description page designating it as the GEOregon New Cache of the Month.

The New Cache of the Month for February is The Sanctuary (GC7B942), CO – jewilk1 with 19 favorite points.  Congrats!!!

GEOregon is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year.  The big function will be the picnic, but meanwhile, we are recognizing highly favorited caches in the area that were placed exactly 10 years ago. You can find the bookmark lists here:

The link above will take you to the GEOregon user profile.  Click on the Links tab and you will see all of our new bookmark lists for 10 year-old caches as well as the New Cache of the Month.  This list will be updated monthly.

The GEOregon Board is looking for volunteers to help with our 10th Anniversary Picnic next summer.  If you would like to help, please contact one of the board members or send an e-mail to the GEOregon address on the GZ page.

Please, when you attend these Meet and Greets make sure to sign in on the written log and log on line with your comments.  Your board reads them all and uses the input when planning future events.
