The GEOregon Board decided to skip our normal July Meet and Greet which would have been held on Saturday July 13th and instead join with WSGA Southwest for a picnic at Lewisville Park the following day. So, while I played around with cars at the 58th annual Rose Cup Races, Mrs. Spitfire headed north for the picnic. It was the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures approaching 100 F, but a fair number of folks braved the heat and attended the picnic. If you’re not familiar with the area, Lewisville Park is a few miles north of Battleground and the East Fork Lewis River flows along one side. There are about 10 caches in and around the park including a 5/5 that requires crossing the river which several picnic attendees did. They were rewarded with a cooling swim in the river, but unfortunately DNF’d the cache. Many thanks to WSGA Southwest for letting us join them at this event.
GEOregon continues to be in serious need of volunteers to coordinate and man the picnic in September. The venue, Summer Lake Park in Tigard, has been secured and paid for. Please contact one of the board members if you are willing to serve on or head up the picnic committee.
